Gencarelli’s Bakery is a family-owned, family-operated bakery, established in 1975 by Rosaria and Ernesto Gencarelli in Bloomfield, NJ. They began in a tiny storefront making only bread. After his high school graduation, Nick Gencarelli joined the family business and elevated the Gencarelli name to be synonymous with great Italian bread as well as wonderful pastries, cakes, and donuts.
Ever since then, a Gencarelli has been in our bakeries. As Rocco, Deanna, and Vincent each graduated from college, they joined the business, continuing to take care of our growing establishment. As our many loyal customers know, we take tremendous pride and care in producing every cake, pastry, and loaf of bread as if we were serving it to our own family members.
As our reputation grew, so did Gencarelli’s Bakery; we moved to a larger store in Bloomfield and in 2000 we opened our Wayne, NJ location. Today, both locations continue the tradition of serving our customers with the same classic breads, pastries, cakes, and baked goods that have made Gencarelli’s a household name for generations.
Expanding into an Italian market and specialty food store has long been a dream of the Gencarelli family. At our Wayne location, that vision has come to life alongside our full bakery. The store now features an Italian market offering imported cheeses, meats, and carefully selected Italian products. Our deli showcase provides a variety of freshly prepared Italian specialties and ingredients that make it easy to bring the flavors of an Italian kitchen home.
We also prepare fresh sandwiches daily on our own house-made bread, bringing together the same quality ingredients and baking traditions that have defined Gencarelli’s for decades. Guests can also enjoy specialty coffee with expertly crafted espresso drinks that pair perfectly with our pastries and desserts. To make the experience even sweeter, we proudly serve homemade gelato, made with the same care and dedication to quality that has always been part of the Gencarelli tradition.
Both Gencarelli’s Bakery locations are open every day of the year except New Year’s Day.
